With the convergence of CITs and the
emergence of what is being called the 'information' or 'knowledge' society,
knowledge and information has become a more important determinant of our
economic, social and cultural lives. Therefore the means of control of
production and dissemination of information have also become vital. Due to
the growing importance of CIT as an engine of economic growth and
development, the Forum established the IT Strategy Group.
Objectives
The Strategy Group will work towards highlighting the importance of this
key sector and its contribution to rapid economic growth.
Provide the private sector perspective in developing the required legal
framework for allowing growth in the IT sector.
Encourage the establishment of inter-Arab connectivity plan that is
officially accepted and funded
Special events shall be arranged to promote development objectives that
will pave the way to greater global competitiveness.
Strategy Group Work Plan

Participate in the preparations of the Forum's
annual Conference on Communications and Information Technology in the Arab
World.
- Participate in the promotional trips, pres
conferences, and similar events to market the conference in
Egypt and
abroad.
- Provide an
environment for research and development in collaboration with private
initiatives.
Develop new strategies and ideas to create a
competitive environment with the CIT sector in
Egypt.
- Emphasize training programs required for
building capabilities and developing human resources to allow for CIT growth
in Egypt.
Governance
The Group has a chairman and a vice-chairman.
The Group will hold a minimum of one meeting per month, and is reporting
to the Forum's Executive Board. The Group may hold more than one meeting
when necessary.
