US Strategy Group

 

 The prevailing perception of Egypt-US relations today are at its best case scenario one of tension, misunderstanding and misgivings. Moreover, there’s another over simplistic reading of Egypt-US relations which is based on the idea that people of both nations have no real problems standing between them, or obstacles facing further development of ties and shared interests, the only problem being that of policies; policies adopted by Egypt and various Arab government regarding democracy, tension and the settlement of the Middle East conflict, and policies adopted by the US administration vis a vis the same issues. The Forum's establishment of this strategy group aims at strengthening the relations between the two nations and exploring its benefits.

Objectives
-  Develop ideas and means of strengthening this privileged relationship allowing for more cooperation between Egypt and the United State.

-  Promote the development of commerce and investment between the United States and Egypt.

-  Special events shall be arranged to promote better understanding of the bilateral relation between the two nations.

Strategy Group Work Plan

-  Participate in the preparations of the yearly visit to the United States organized to promote dialogue on these important issues, with the ultimate aim of enhancing economic cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Organize and coordinate with other institutions in Egypt and abroad to host related events aiming at strengthening the historic U.S.-Egypt partnership as a means of promoting mutual understanding.

Opening channels of communication with the media to foster proactive discussion on US-Egyptian Bilateral Relationship.

-  Coordinate congressional delegation trips to
Egypt; assist Egyptian political delegation visits to areas outside Washington area.

Help in creating a US-Egypt Economic Development Caucus in the US Congress.

Providing position papers clarifying how can this relationship benefit Egypt in terms of trade and sustainable development.

Governance
-  The Group has a chairman and a vice-chairman.

-  The Group will hold a minimum of one meeting per month, and is reporting to the Forum's Executive Board. The Group may hold more than one meeting when necessary.
