Mr. M. Shafik Gabr is the Chairman of the Executive
Board of Egypt’s International Economic Forum, and the Chairman & Managing
Director of Artoc Group For Investment & Development. Mr. Gabr directs the
activities of Artoc’s subsidiaries in Egypt, USA and Europe, within its six
activities: Investment, Engineering & Infrastructure, Automotive, Consumer
Products, Publications and International Operations. This diversified Group
operates in the Middle East, Europe and the United States and in
headquartered in Cairo, Egypt. Mr. Gabr also serves on the Egypt- US
President’s Council, he is also a member of the Executive Board of the
International Chamber of Commerce (Paris), a Member of the Board of the
Egyptian Center for Economics Studies (Cairo) and serves on the Council of
the World Economic Forum (Geneva).
Mr. Gabr also
serves as a Director on the Board of several Corporations in Egypt including
the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, (which supervises 19 major
state owned industries). Mr. Gabr serves on the Board of the Egyptian
Investment & Finance Company, the Industrial Free Zone East Port Said
Company, The Association of Enterprises for Environmental Conservation, the
Egyptian- Czech Friendship Society and the Frankfurt International School.
Furthermore, Mr.
Gabr was a founder of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1982 and
served as its first Egyptian President from 1995 until 1997. Mr. Gabr is
charter member of the International Consulting Group for the Center for
Strategic and International Studies, a member of the Initiative for Peace
and Cooperation in the Middle East and a member of the Egyptian
Businessmen’s Association (after serving on its board from 1996 - 1998).
In 1993, the World Economic Forum elected Mr. Gabr as
“Global Leader for Tomorrow”, and in 1995 he accepted an invitation to join
the Prince of Wales Business Leaders Forum. In 2000 Mr. Gabr was elected as
Chairman of the COMESA Business Council.
Mr. Gabr received his BA in Economics and Management
from the American University in Cairo and an MA degree in
Economics from the University of London.
